Community Support

Canplas, as a corporation, is dedicated to giving back to our communities by participating in charitable organizations and environmental agencies including those listed below.  We also support our employee’s individual and group efforts in numerous other charitable activities. Canplas’ community support is organized by our Charitable Action Committee, voluntarily staffed by employees.

United Way
Through corporate donations, voluntary payroll deductions and other activities Canplas and its employees support the United Way of Greater Simcoe County (UWGSC) a locally controlled, charitable organization dedicated to helping build a stronger community by improving lives and providing lasting change.

United Way partners with approximately 35 local non-profit agencies to address five impact areas:
-safe, supportive and inclusive communities
-healthy thriving children and youth
-strong, nurturing families
-living with independence and dignity
-reducing the cycles associated with poverty and abuse.

JDRF
The company supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundations (JDRF) work through participation in their annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.
JDRF is the worldwide leader in funding research to cure type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, but lasts a lifetime. JDRF sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder of, and advocate for, diabetes science worldwide.

JDRF’s mission has been constant since it was founded four decades ago: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Until a cure is found, JDRF is also committed to working tirelessly to develop new and better treatments to improve the lives of people who have type 1 diabetes and keep them as healthy as possible.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada
Canplas supports the local Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada agency through support of their Bowl for Kids Sake fundraising program and their In School Mentoring program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) is the leading child and youth serving organization providing mentoring programs across the country. Providing support to more than 1000 Canadian communities, over 128 local agencies offer the service that the organization was founded on: One-to-One Matching. Men and women (age 18 or older) give of their time to become a mentor to a young person who can greatly benefit from having an adult role model to look up to.
